Be a farmer for a day at Cruckley Animal Farm

Cruckley Animal Farm is close to the Wolds in the heart of East Yorkshire at Foston-on-the-Wolds, near Driffield.

IDonkey Photot has more than 60 acres of grass paddocks, cereals, young woodland, ponds, a river and waterfowl lake.

And from a safe walkway around the farm visitors can see about 50 varieties of farm animals including cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, goats, ornamental waterfowl, chicks, ducks, geese, turkeys and several farm cats.

Some of the animals are endangered species and rare species include White Park and Longhorn Cattle, Grey-faced Dartmoor, Whitefaced Woodland and Balwen Sheep.

The farm is usually home to seven breeds of British rare pigs.

Since 1994 Cruckley has been a Rare Breed Survival Trust approved farm park – the only one in East Yorkshire.

Many of the things you see are inside the farm buildings, including a daily milking demonstration, pigs being fattened, the mill, feedhouse and hatchery.

In the hatchery you can see the incubator and hatcher with fluffy chicks and ducklings of all ages.

HensIn the children’s paddock can be found hand-reared small animals including Cecil the Vietnamese pot bellied pig.

The walkway around the farm takes in all sorts of wildlife including kingfishers, herons, swans, ducks, geese and insects.

Cruckley has a refreshment point and a shop, a picnic area and toilets.
